My Story

I was born in 1981 under the fiery and adventurous sign of Aries. As a child, I was curious and impulsive, always in motion, always creating. I danced, I painted, I explored, and I sought to understand how things worked—not just mechanically, but energetically, emotionally, and physically. My hands found their way into the world of artistry, first through movement and expression, and later as a hairstylist.

Motherhood came at 22, bringing with it a profound transformation. The experience was a seismic shift, one that, in hindsight, was accompanied by extreme postpartum depression—undiagnosed, but deeply felt. Searching for something to bring me back to myself, I visited a high school friend who had become an acupuncturist. That first treatment changed everything. Acupuncture made me feel again. It reignited my connection to my body, my spirit, and my creativity. I wrote poetry, I danced, I painted, I played in the sand—anything to reconnect with the vibrant life force within me.

At 26, I had my second child, a high-needs baby who never slept. I searched endlessly for answers as I watched him struggle. Now, with years of knowledge behind me, I recognize the silent culprit—gut health, disrupted by antibiotics at birth. His struggles taught me perseverance, intuition, and the power of looking deeper than what conventional wisdom offers.

In 2017, my body forced me into another transformation. Years of working as a hairstylist had taken a toll, and I developed severe breathing issues and chronic fatigue that left me unable to continue my career. Once again, acupuncture became my lifeline. It offered healing, restoration, and, ultimately, a new path. Then came 2020, a year of upheaval for so many, and a year that marked my next step. I applied and was accepted into a Traditional Chinese Medicine program. What followed was a painful and profound journey of unbecoming and rebirth.

Learning a new way to look at the world is not easy. It requires dismantling old perspectives, beliefs, and misunderstandings, tearing down what no longer serves, and carefully reconstructing a new, expansive understanding of life, health, and self. Throughout my journey, I sought truth, exploring energy work, color, stones, and various modalities of healing.

I was raised in the Jehovah’s Witness faith through childhood, studied it briefly as a teenager, and again as a young adult. However, I let go of it immediately after the birth of my first child, which ignited a great crisis of identity, self, and spiritual center. This led me down a path of intense questioning, exploration, and transformation. The more I let go, the closer to truth I felt. Becoming is often about releasing—shedding the layers of conditioning that obscure who we truly are.

Now, I step forward with The Art of Becoming, a space dedicated to sharing knowledge, insights, and tools for cultivating a full, vibrant, and healthy life. Through the lens of Chinese medicine, I offer guidance to those seeking balance, resilience, and a deeper understanding of their own health. My hope is to build a community—a network of clients, colleagues, and like-minded individuals committed to thoughtful exploration and truth-seeking.
